If you are struggling to summarize the main events in a story, use Kidspiration. Kidspiration is used frequently in our school as a tool for reading and writing. Simply create a box for each main event in the story and connect them using the arrows. This will help you keep the events in order. You should put the main events in the timeline as you are reading the story. Once you have completed the timeline, you may give a retelling of the story by reading or writing the main events in sequence. Please then use this retelling or the ordered events to write your summary.
